Confluence
Statement
These layered hanging scrolls cull imagery from photographs and
video taken over the last year in and around the confluence of the
Platte River and Cherry Creek. The ink drawings seek to identify
and reconnect other material flows that pass through the area and
rub up against each other in an endless production of new configurations.
They are an attempt to visualize a small portion of the fluid matrix
of connections and rich history in this constantly changing place
from the point of view of a daily bicycle commuter. The video loop
is an open counterpoint to the more intimate space of the drawings.
It combines imagery taken from the same sources and projects it
across several hanging scrolls allowing the viewer to move between
the layers in an activated space.
